Solo presentations by Galerie Zeller van Almsick and Jean‑Claude Maier at House of Galleries, Trianon, Frankfurt, Germany

Almost site-specific, the “XL Notes” by Xenia Lesniewski are arranged within one of the countless offices lined with black carpet: painterly, enlarged fragments of a collection of notes by the Vienna- and Offenbach-based artist, whose initials cleverly correspond to the scale of each piece.

Diary-like sentences, slogans, and aphorisms, fleeting sketches, torn and reassembled, pinned to the wall with oversized needles—Lesniewski’s installation seems made for the antiseptic office capsule under pale ceiling light. Gigantic open envelopes, XL gallery business cards, and a ripped aspirin packet warning against overindulgence at openings complete the casually witty environment: Kippy in smart, one might say.
